Accelerating Adoption of Deep Fuel Efficiency Retrofits Danish Maritime Days 2015

07.10.2015 @ 07:00 - 08:30

Join the Danish Shipowner’s Association, BIMCO, Carbon War Room and UCL Energy Institute during Danish Maritime Days, for an engaging discussion with key stakeholders around the business benefits of ‘deep’ or ‘double digit’ ship retrofits.

Why invest in deep retrofits?

Fuel Efficiency retrofits remain a key opportunity for the shipping industry to profitably reduce both the fuel costs and the greenhouse gas emissions of the shipping industry.  Retrofitting offers an opportunity to keep pace with newbuild ships that are being designed 30% more efficiently.  Several owners – most often using a limited budget – have already started installing and testing various technologies, typically one or two at a time, resulting in small improvements that are hard to quantify and distinguish from simple changes to usual fluctuations in operations.  The morning’s panel discussion will cover the benefits of deep retrofits including premium charter rates, significant fuel savings, and more hire days.  The engaging panel debate will feature pioneering owners and financiers who have looked at investing in retrofits delivering 10-20% efficiency savings.
